Offers a solid, muscular beam of raspberry and red currant, with sweet spice and tobacco in the background. The round finish of roasted vanilla is nicely integrated already, and this nicely rounded overall. Tasted non-blind. Score range: 91-94
A blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest primarily Merlot, this may be finest second wine Mouton Rothschild has yet produced. The selection process is unquestionably severe, and the 2010 Le Petit Mouton is even higher in alcohol than the grand vin. Abundant cassis, supple tannins and more near-term pleasure can be found in this full-bodied, rich, impressively endowed effort. Enjoy it over the next 10-15 years.
This is really exceptional with beautiful chocolate and blackberry character. It's full and velvety with gorgeous ripe tannins. Loving this. Wonderful richness and length.
The astounding quality of Mouton-Rothschild was recognised in 1973 when it was upgraded to first growth status. Every vintage has a label design from a different artist, such as Picasso and Warhol. Their soil is arguably the best in Pauillac and some of their vines are a century old.
